Book... Book... Book... Book... Book... Movie!

From last week's news post on Patreon. There are several trans books and authors in the news this week, plus a new movie from the maker of I Saw the TV Glow.

Books, Books, Books

Swoony Sunday Book Review: “The Chromatic Fantasy” - Reviewer Dr. Thomas J. West III calls The Chromatic Fantasy by H.A. a "delightful, exuberant, queer, trans, and utterly surreal graphic novel." (from Omnivorous)

Gender Epiphany - Ilana Masad discusses Susan Stryker's latest book Changing Gender. (from Alta)

This is Sonido Reyes' most personal book yet - local news coverage of trans writer Sonido Reyes and his latest YA dystopian novel. "It's actually really special for me to have my first book with a trans main character come out with my new name, and I feel like I'm putting myself out there by doing this," Reyes said. (from 12News in Phoenix)

Carrying by Samantha Josephs Review: The Trans Body Horror Debut You’ll Be Talking About - Reviewer Jim McLeod says "it lands as one of the boldest new voices in trans body horror this decade," which is quite an accolade considering how much trans body horror I've come across recently. This review is on a Scottish site, where the book will not be released until February. Carrying is out in the United States on October 6. (from The Ginger Nuts of Horror)

The Trans Handy Ma’am Helps Where It Matters Most – At Home - a profile of Mercury Stardust, author of Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair (2023) and this month's Lost and found : a compassionate guide to homeownership. (from Karen Ocamb: LGBTQ+ Freedom Fighters)

And a movie

Jane Schoenbrun’s ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ - A review of the latest film from non-binary filmmaker, Jane Schoenbrun, whose last film was the well-regarded I Saw the TV Glow. Reviewer Thomas Deakin calls it Schoenbrun's "most optimistic [film] yet." It stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. (from Roar)
